PEMBERTON ROSES

We have a good collection of roses bred by either the Rev. Joseph Hardwick Pemberton, who was the Anglican Curate at Havering-atte-Bower in Essex or his gardeners (Jack and Ann Bentall). These include some of hybrid musk roses, a type of rose that introduced, as well as hybrid perpetual and ground cover flowers.

Pemberton, who was the first person to be awarded the Dean Hole Medal by the National Rose Society, named many of his roses after people in Greek Mythology.
