LET'S ROCK 'N' ROLL

In 2021 I entered in the Soham Flower Show the lovely scented rose, Rock n Roll, having been encouraged to enter at the last moment by friend. So it was a surprise to me when I came away with trophy for the best flower in show. Though it is not the only rose in our collection that has links to my favourite type of music, Rock and Roll.



Roll n Roll - is an extremely fragrant floribunda rose with flowers that are a mixture of red and white. It was bred in the USA by Tom Carruth and introduced in the UK in 2006. the


Our others being:



Cliff Richard - is a very popular rose with fans of the legendary singer. A floribunda rose with pink flowers, that was bred by Lincolnshire firm of Van Geest, it was introduced in 1993.


Freddie Mercury - is named for the lead singer of the rock group, Wham, and has medium yellow flowers. Bred by Eric Stainthorpe,


Marc Bolan - is a floribunda rose that was bred by Colin Dickson, who sold it as an unnamed seedling to Cocker's Roses. It was them who named it and introduced in 2014 in memory of the rock n roll superstar, who had died died in 1977, The rose, which grows to about 120cm by 105, has lovely purple flowers. I love the photograph I took of ours and have often thought that it would make a lovely poster for the living room
