I CAN'T WAIT FOR SUMMER

Summertime is a time of the year that can not come soon enough for me, especially when we have in the autumn planted some exciting new roses. this year is no exception.

A FOND FAREWLL

I am certain that the striking A Fond Farewell, which we have been blessed to have recent before it has been officially introduced this autumn, will become a popular and sort after rose with its carrot red and pink flowers. Growing to about 110cm by 110, it was bred by crossing Especially for You with the 2022 Rose of the Year, It's A Wonderful Life.

AUNTIE CAROLA'S COTTAGE GARDEN

A floribunda rose, with rosy pink flowers with a canary yellow cente, Auntie Carola's Cottage Garden was bred by W.B. Yeats and Storyteller, both of which are also Colin Dickson bred roses. It grows to about 70cm by 90 and was privately named in memory of a beloved auntie who was an avid gardener.

BERYL'S BLOOMING BEAUTY

Named for a 90th birthday gift, Beryl's Blooming Beauty has orange flowers fused with peach and grows to about 85cm by 85. It was bred by crossing a seedling of Newsflash with a seedling of Spice of Life.

DAME JANET BAKER

Not due to hit the markets until this coming November, Dame Janet Baker has been named to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Opera Singer. It is a floribunda rose with neyron rose and orange flowers. Its parentage is Summer Beauty Seedling x (Spice of Life x Light Fantanstic).

EMILIA LIZ

A floribunda rose, Emilia Liz is not being put onto general sale until this coming number and was named by an aunt to celebrate the birth of her niece. Bred by crossing Especially for You with It's A Wonderful Life and has flowers that are pastel mauve and dawn pink. Both having bred by Colin.

EYE DO

A privately named rose, that will not be introduced to the UK market, we are fortunate to have it in the garden thanks to Daniel Myhil, who was happy to swop it for one of our Harper-Scott Roses. it was bred by Colin from his own Storyteller and the Christopher Warner's Smiling Eyes.

GWEN PADFIELD

Named in memory of a loving mother, Gwen Padfield has lemon yellow flowers with scarlet tips. It is a floribunda rose that grows to about 85cm by 85. It's parentage being Modern Slavery Rose x Inspiration x Newsflash Seedling).

KATE CHILLINGORTH

Personally selected by a couple to celebrate their gold wedding, Kate Chillingworth has mimosa yellow with rose flowers that have a pleasant scent. Bred from Lady Adrianna and a Seedling of Rolita, it grows to about 60cm by 65.

LADY ADRIANNA

Named as a wedding gift and also to celebrate Lady Adrianna becoming the latest Baroness Temple, Lady Adrianna has flowers that combine cherry red, pale yellow and ivory in an air-brushed effect. It was bred from Storyteller and Airbrush. The latter bring a floribunda rose bred by Kordes. Lady Adrianna grows to about 85cm by 95.

THE HARPER-SCOTT ROSE

The Harper-Scot Rose (DICscotteye) is privately named rose, by us with sole UK rights, so you won't be able to purchase it anywhere in the UK though is avaliable in Netherlands at "Sophia's Eye", where the breeder's code is DICkatseleye compared to in the UK. It is a Floribuna/Hybrid Hulthemia persica rose that was bred by Clin Dickson of Newtownards, Northern Ireland by crossing Storyteller with Bright as a Button. The former is floribunda rose that he bred and the latter is Floribunda/Hybrid Hulthemia persica rose that was bred by Christopher Warner.

It has light pink flowers with deeper flecks and grows to about 80cm by 110cm.
